Marvell stock pops as AI-related bookings drive Q1 revenue to record levels

Marvell Technology (MRVL) is inching higher in extended hours after the company posted stellar Q1 results and issued impressive guidance for the current quarter.

The custom AI chips specialist reported a 28% year-on-year increase in revenue to a record $2.42 billion on $0.8 per share of earnings (EPS) – slightly beating consensus set at $0.79 per share.

Marvell stock has been a lucrative investment in 2026, currently up more than 180% versus its low in early February.

Marvell stock pops on raised future guidance

While Q1 numbers sure were impressive, it was management’s exceptionally bullish guidance that stole the show.

Marvell cited “exceptional AI-related bookings” as it raised its estimate for current-quarter revenue to a better-than-expected $2.7 billion, representing a 35% growth on a year-over-year basis.

This surge in bookings underscores accelerating demand for the company’s custom accelerators, optical interconnects, and data center silicon – all critical components of next-gen AI infrastructure.

It signals Marvell Technology is becoming a preferred supplier as hyperscalers scale out inference and networking capacity.

Note that MRVL stock currently sits decisively above its major moving averages (MAs), signaling bulls remain in control across multiple timeframes.

Why MRVL shares are worth buying today

Peeling back the headline numbers reveals deep fundamental reasons why Marvell shares remain a compelling buy for long-term investors.

In Q1, the company’s adjusted gross margin stood at a staggering 58.9%, indicating it’s extracting substantial operating leverage from its AI‑centric product mix.

MRVL is successfully positioning itself as the vital tollbooth of AI infrastructure, where the major technical bottleneck has shifted from raw compute power to data connectivity.

The Nasdaq-listed firm’s data center segment continues to expand at a staggering clip (up 27% in Q1), supported by the rapid commercial ramp of its custom application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and optical digital signal processors (DSPs) as hyperscalers aggressively upgrade to 800G and 1.6T connectivity solutions.

Moreover, the strategic additions of Celestial AI and XConn Technologies have solidified MRVL’s strategic moat in optical scale-up networking and CXL memory switching, which are critical for overcoming modern AI processing bottlenecks.

How to play Marvell after Q1 earnings?

Financially and operationally, Marvell Technology is proving that it can translate “hyper-growth” into “high-quality” profitability.

Alongside its record-breaking revenue, the chipmaker generated an all-time high operational cash flow of $638.8 million during the first quarter, reinforcing the strength of its AI‑centric business.

Despite a premium forward multiple on MRVL shares, the firm’s tight architectural alignment with industry titans like Nvidia – solidified via its high-profile “NVLink Fusion” integration – justifies that premium.

All in all, by demonstrating elite execution, robust cash generation, and a diversified pipeline that directly capitalizes on the most lucrative vectors of data center expansion, Marvell has cemented its status as a premier secular winner in the global AI gold rush.
